Benefits of Single Application Fertilizer

The ultimate in Labor Efficient Programs is the use of products that provide superior turf with a single annual fertility application.  These products utilize advanced nitrogen technology that provides consistent release throughout the growing season.

How It Works

Turfgrass roots are poor at moderating their uptake of available ammonium or nitrate.  Applying too much nitrogen at a time may result in turf burn, excessive growth, ammonia gassing, or nitrate leaching.

To protect the nitrogen from loss or damaging the turf when applying a single application fertilizer at high rates, urea is coated with a protective polymer.  This polymer allows water to penetrate the coating and releases nitrogen based on soil temperature and plant demands.  Learn more about polymer-coated urea (PCU) here.

Feeding Longevities

For best results, a single application fertilizer needs 5-10% of quick-release nitrogen along with urea that will feed consistently month after month.  EC Grow’s LEP fertilizers are blended with PCU that releases 80% of the nitrogen after 45, 90, 120, and 180 days.  By combining PCUs that release at different times, you are ensured that there is sufficient nitrogen that is released monthly.

Delivers Consistent Feeding

For a single application fertilizer to work, it is imperative that the product is applied at the correct rate to supply annual fertility requirements; generally, between 250 and 300 pounds per acre.  The target is 0.1 lbs./N/1,000 sq. ft./week with consistent results.
