Labor is one of the largest issues facing the green industry today. How would your business benefit from having 40-60% more time to manage fertility needs? Sound too good to be true? What about 80%? That’s just crazy talk.
Not crazy. It’s LEP. Labor Efficient Programs. “Finding employees is still a significant issue”, according to the 2020 Green Industry Benchmark Report, “more businesses wanted to improve their efficiency and market to acquire more customers”, the report further indicated. Labor is not a new problem, it is an ongoing problem.
Applying 2-3 lbs. of nitrogen/1,000 sq. ft. to Midwest lawns during the growing season is recommended for a typical lawn care program. However, some nitrogen is lost through volatility or leaching resulting in repeat applications or less chance for wasteful surge growth. By using blends with Polymer Coated Urea (PCU), the nitrogen is protected from loss and will feed consistently over time. Our Labor Efficient Programs are specially formulated with PCU to maximize the nitrogen applied and provide premium results.
To effectively utilize your staff’s time, you need a way to perform routine tasks better. Applying fertilizer is essential to maintain healthy turf but can also be time-consuming—especially if you are making 5-6 stops for maintenance. Simply reducing fertility applications to 3 stops would provide you 40% more time to manage additional properties or expand services.
Apply your LEP preemergent in the spring that will feed for 3 months—rather than a fertilizer that feeds for 4 or 6 weeks. Follow it up with an LEP grub control product or LEP straight fertilizer that also feeds for 3 months. Finish out the season with a fall fertilizer application and you are done for the season.
We also have LEP programs that use two applications or even one to effectively feed the turf throughout the growing season. Learn more here.
